One of the must visit place that I have always included in my trip to Kyoto is Nishiki Market (錦市場). However, faith as it is, never managed to get around visiting the place.
This week, I finally managed to visit Nishiki Market (錦市場). Because the market is open only during the day, to ensure that I don’t arrive at the market only to find it close, I ensure that we head over to the market first thing in the morning 😉.
Our journey to the market start from Osaka where we were staying. We took the Osaka City Subway from Nippombashi station heading towards Kita-Senri on Sakaisuji Line and got off Awaji Station on the Hankyu train (this is a good option as we did not even have to change from the subway to Hankyu train as its the same train). From Awaji, we change the train to head towards Karawamachi where we got off the Kawasuma train station. Coming out of the train station, we turn left and took about 5 minutes walk before arriving at the market.
Nishiki Market (錦市場, Nishiki Ichiba) is a five blocks long market offering varieties of food products to any daily products. One can find fresh seafoods, fresh varieties of freshly made sushi and many others cooked food, souvenir and many more. Also known as ‘Kyoto’s Kitchen’ there are many restaurants available here too.
Here at the Nishiki Market (錦市場), we are able to sample some of the locally produced snacks while enjoying the hassle bussle of the market. A truly trilling experience for me 😍.
Of course taking the opportunity, we snacks along the way while exploring Nishiki Market (錦市場). We had the fried fish cakes… Lots of different varieties but our stomach are limited 😰 so we only had 3 types.
The many types to choose from 😉
An experience that we truly enjoyed. If ever I head back to Kyoto, definitely a place I would come again.
