Simple Braised Pork Belly 

Weekend is now a luxury for me when I get my ‘me time’. So when having to cook dinner for the family, I will think of the easier random dishes that does not take up too much of my time 😉 

Braising is one of my favourite way of cooking as it takes less of my time and braised dishes always turns out delicious. 

So tonight I decided to whip up a Simple Braised Pork Belly with some of the random seasonings I found in my kitchen. The recipe is sinple enough and it has now come to be one of my boys fav dishes 😍


  • 300gm pork belly 
  • 1/2 cup light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon caramel soy sauce / dark soy sauce
  • 1 cup of water
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil


  1. Wash the pork belly and pat dry with kitchen towel
  2. Season for 10 mins with salt and pepper
  3. In the wok, heat up 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  4. Sear the pork belly on both side to seal the juice when cooking
  5. Add in the light soy sauce and let it cook with the pork belly for 1 min
  6. Add in the water, dark soy sauce / caramel soy sauce and sugar
  7. Braised for 15 minutes and turn the meat to the other side
  8. Braised for another 15 minutes
  9. Once the meat is tender and cook, off the fire
  10. Taste the sauce and adjust the sauce to your taste – add sugar accordingly if you want a sweeter sauce
  11. Cut the meat into slices and pour the sauce on top of the meat
  12. Serve hot
