Mystical Jeju : Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum (제주도민속자연사박물관) & Mysterious Road (신비의도로)

After our exploration of Yongduam Rock – Dragon Head Rock (용두암), we head off to our next educational exploration, Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum (제주도민속자연사박물관).

Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum (제주도민속자연사박물관), is a fantastic place for those who wants to learn and understand more on the Jeju Folklore and their history. It is an exhibition of the folklore remains as well as the natural historical materials of Jeju-do (제주도) that have been excavated in Jeju-do (제주도).

We explored the 4 exhibition halls that covers, Natural History Hall, the Folklore Exhibition Hall Ⅰ, the Folklore Exhibition Hall Ⅱ, and the Outdoor Exhibition.

In the Natural History Exhibition Hall, one will see historical items such as marine life, soil and rocks, fauna and flora of Jeju-do (제주도) in a three-dimensional way. It gives the visitor a better understanding of Jeju’s unique nature as well as culture.

Next is the Folklore Exhibition Hall where we will see the transformation in the lifestyles of Jeju-do (제주도) and its people. Here, the visitors will see the ancient lifestyle on Jeju-do (제주도) through recapturing Jeju’s traditional housing architecture, the rites of passage and their regional food specialties.

In the Folklore Exhibition Hall II, the visitor can see the diving gears of Haenyeo (Women Divers of Jeju) as well as the farming tools used by farmers in Jeju-do (제주도).

The Outdoor Exhibition is a short walk heading to the Marine Life Exhibition. Here, one is able to see some of the barn from the traditional Jeju lifestyle.

Marine Life Exhibition is a small exhibition hall where the visitors are able to see the whales, dolphin and some interesting sea animals that are found around Jeju-do (제주도).

Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum (제주도민속자연사박물관) (Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese)

After the educational tour of Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum (제주도민속자연사박물관), we had our yummy local lunch. For lunch today, we were brought to a local restaurant where varieties of dishes were served as a set lunch. Not only the food was delicious, it was also very reasonably priced. Sure pays to hire a local guide while exploring this beautiful yet Mystical island of Jeju-do (제주도).

After filling up our stomach, we checked out Mysterious Road (신비의도로).

Mysterious Road (신비의도로), also known as Dokkaebi Road, lies on a hill at the foot of a mountain. It connects the two major highways of Jeju-do (제주도).

Mysterious Road (신비의도로) earned its name because objects or liquid appear to roll and flow up the hill instead of down. This is because of the image of gravity defiance that is an optical illusion rendered by the high surroundings.

The fun experience of sitting in the van with the engine switched off while the van roll along the road gives such a trilling and exciting feelings.

Next to Mysterious Road (신비의도로) is where Jeju Love Land (제주러브랜드) is located. So if you are interested in checking out creativity and fun erotic sculpture, do not miss this place. You can read more about this place through my past share : Jeju Love Land (제주러브랜드).

And now….. off we go for our last and exciting adventure of the day!
