Finally, the highly anticipated exciting Day 10 is here! So, what is so special about this day? Why is it that we are so excited?
Our morning excursion and the excitement are because we will be going for a submarine ride…. Seogwipo Submarine (서귀포잠수함), where we come.
Note: If you are planning to do this for your visit to Jeju, there is a total of 3 submarine tour available in Jeju-do (제주도). However, Seogwipo Submarine (서귀포잠수함) is said to be one of the best one because of the location. However, it is a very popular program and it is always fully booked. So recommending that you pre-book the time in advance to avoid any disappointment.
beautiful scenery surrounding the dock before we head to the boat
Seogwipo Submarine (서귀포잠수함) opened in 1988, the first of its kind in Asia while the third in the world. Seogwipo Submarine (서귀포잠수함) is an undersea tour in a submarine that was acquired from Finland.
Munseom, where Seogwipo Submarine (서귀포잠수함) travels is home to outstanding coral reefs, colorful fished and rich seaweed. This exquisite landscape is what makes Seogwipo Submarine (서귀포잠수함) interesting as it is one of the most beautiful places to dive as well.
Our journey started by taking a boat ride to where the submarine awaits for us. To our luck, we were travelling with the Indonesian Filming crew, hence we also were able to see how documentary were filmed too. While heading to the submarine dock, announcement were during the boat ride on who / which team head disembark from the boat first.
Arriving at the dock of the submarine, we head down and queue to enter the submarine. Exciting…….. Just as we were getting onto the submarine, we were asked to pose for a photo next to the submarine.
Interesting way of getting into the submarine. We had to get in 1 by 1 and getting onto the submarine by going backward down into the submarine. The path were very narrow and because it was a windy way, it was pretty rocky too….. Scary yet exciting!
In the submarine, we were all seated on 2 rows. And now, our journey starts………
We started by going into an estimation of about 25 meter onto the sea-bed where we see the diver playing with fishes through the window of the submarine. What a beautiful sight……. and there were a shipwreck that we saw too…..
Our journey continue into 40 meter sea-bed where we see rare iridescent coral reefs…. simply awesome!
Very quickly the tour ended and we slowly ascend up. Lasted about 1 hour, our exciting tour of Seogwipo Submarine (서귀포잠수함) finally comes to an end. We head back to the shore and to our little surprises, we were given our ‘graduation’ certificate with the photo taken earlier with the submarine.
Being the longest submarine tour without a single accident on record, Seogwipo Submarine (서귀포잠수함) is definitely a must-see attraction on Jeju-do (제주도).
